Trip to Louisiana

We found a great deal on tickets to Baton Rouge, so we flew down to visit my mom. The kids and I had a fantastic time: we got to see LSU's Mike the Tiger, we went to the zoo, we went crawfishin' in the local ditches, we played at the park, we collected gumballs in the front yard, and much, much more .... (see if you can spot the crawfish in the 4th pic)

Aimee always wanted us to come back to visit, but we never had the time, etc. She was here once-- right after I proposed to her in Texas in 2002. We drove down here and had a great time. I can remember us going to Alligator Bayou. We wanted to take a canoe out on the swamps, and I asked if there were any gators out there. The lady at the rental booth said "Yeah!" and Aimee said "Yeah!" and I, of course, said "No!" But we went anyway. She was so excited at the chance of fending alligators off with our oars, but fortunately we didn't see any. Needless to say, Aimee was disappointed. But we still had a great time.

Now THAT reminds me of the good old days--crawfish boil right in the front yard with a motley crew of grad students and profs. Everyone looks great.

I remember Cleanth Brooks came to LSU just before he died, and said in Allen Hall: "When I first came here, the live oaks were little!" Time flies.

Hope all is well, Greg, KK, Grace

You guys look like you had a great time, and the kids look wonderful! That sun sure looks nice, I wish some of it would make its way here to Lyon. Thanks for the photos: they really made us miss home and wish we were there with you guys!

Will, I totally remember Aimee going on and on about your canoe trip and her hopes to see the alligators. Nice, warm memory, thanks!

I cant believe how big they both are. I guess Adele is big too, but you dont notice at home. I remember sitting on your back porch with Aimee. Tilly and Adele asleep in slings and Xavier in the pool...how far they have come.

I love the pictures! Did y'all go to the zoo? It looks a lot nicer, if thats the case. And the park, Will, they fixed it up! Did you ever go crawfish hunting there? Mama and the kids look fantastic...I wish I could have spent some time with y'all. Vern and I will have to make a trip up to Boston, then :)

The kids look great! I can't believe Aimee actually wanted to see an alligator up close - no thanks!! Stick with crawfish - always safer to pick on animals that are smaller and less toothy than you are! ;)

Those are great pics!!! Oh, I wish I was there with you guys. I'm sure you haven't missed the snow--it's terrible up north! Y'all look like you're soaking up the good ol' Louisiana warmth.
And crawfish are awesome. So glad the kids get to experience them!

Give big hugs and kisses to Tilly and Xavier for me. Miss you so much!
Love,
Claire
