The chemotherapy went well yesterday. We were at the hospital for 4 hours or so. No reactions, no problems. The doctor offered Aimee some oxycodone for the pain, as the over-the-counter pain relievers haven't been working. (So far so good-- keeps her pretty drowsy though.) They also offered something called Megace, which should boost her appetite. So far, her nausea has been less severe than before. (Who would have thought that Chemotherapy could be used as a cure for nausea?)
Her white blood cell count will drop, so we have to take extra care that she not catch a cold or the flu while she's being treated. Also, we got mixed messages whether she will lose her hair. The doctor said "thinning;" the nurse said "losing." Needless to say, we're hoping for the former.

Oxycodone is fantastic - Edmund lived off of it for his 19 weeks of chemo (vincristine & dactinomycin) and for about 2 months afterwards - usually to deal with the leg cramps and whatever else he felt & couldn't tell us! His hair "thinned" & completely changed color - but he is mostly back to normal 8 months later. Prayers & hope for the Cowan clan. Let me know if the kids need a shipment of toys & busy books! If hair loss = tumor loss, we'll take it. And anyway we curly headed folk have all wished to experience life on the non curly side. Here is your chance! Maybe getting rid of the curls will make you cooler just like it does in the movies.

Woah there Nelly! NOBODY gets to shave her head--no jumping the gun here! Its only a possibility at this point, not a certainty. So if I find you and Jessica and Matt and JoJo bear all shaved, you all are in trouble!!!! Thanks for thinking of it though; I love you.
Oh noooooooooooo, it's toooo late!!! I went ahead already and have the coolest do for the summer. Course, I did keep the rat tail in the back, just for coolness sake.
So next time there is group haircutting discussion going on, please clarify that it is discussion!!!
Now I have to go reapply my bowling ball wax. (Grumble, grumble, grumble...)
